UNH Horse Trials

The UNH Horse Trials are held on the north side of the University of New Hampshire's iconic campus, located in Durham, NH.

UNH offers USEA recognized starter, beginner novice, novice, training, and training/modified levels. All levels are participating in the Jockey Club's Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP), submit your eligible horse's number to our secretary for inclusion in this great program!

Starting Fall 2025, UNH is also offering Schooling Horse Trials divisions at the Beginner Novice, Starter, and Introductory levels.  They are also offering Combined Test divisions: Modified, Training, Novice, Beginner Novice, Starter, Introductory, and Grasshopper.  The schooling divisions will be scheduled on the SAME DAY as the recognized divisions, directly after the associated recognized level has run.

All schooling divisions will follow the current USEA Rule Book and USEA Horse Trials omnibus specifications.  Introductory combined test riders will use the USDF Introductory Level, Test A, and jumps will not exceed 2'0".  The Grasshopper combined test riders will use the USDF Introductory Level, Test A, and jumps will not exceed 18" and will be a welcoming blend of cross-rails and verticals.

Cross-Country Schooling

At this time, the UNH course is open for schooling!  Come school the XC course, the show jumping courses and/or the dressage arenas!

The XC course will be closed 7-10 day prior to the event dates to allow for event preparation.  We expect the course to be open for schooling after.

All schooling is by appointment only and is weather- and footing-dependent.

UNH is currently seeking donations to help manage the beautiful cross country course.  If you'd like to be involved, please reach out!
